The Xunta de Galicia and the centers of the CIGUS Network prepare a strategy to boost excellent research in the region

Román Rodríguez, the regional government representative for Culture, Education, Higher Technical Education and Universities, and the representatives of the eight centers of the Network have discussed the main actions of the working strategy, as well as the proposed funding of the research centers for the coming years
Representatives of the eight centres of the Network of Research Centres of the Galician University System (CIGUS Network) have met with Román Rodríguez, the regional government representative for Culture, Education, Higher Technical Education and Universities, to discuss the design of the new working strategy.
The main objective of this working strategy is to implement strategic and coordinated actions among the centers of the CIGUS Network, which contribute to consolidate their excellence, increase their social impact and position the Galician University research system as a scientific benchmark in the national and international scene. It will also include networking activities with other research systems, various training sessions for researchers and technical staff, the integration of the gender perspective in the management of the centers and the design of research, among other initiatives. During the session, the funding needs of the research centers for the coming years were also discussed.
In addition to the representatives of the CIGUS Network and the regional government representative for Culture, Education, Higher Technical Education and Universities, the meeting was also attended by members of the High-Level Working Group. This group includes Carmen Vela, researcher and former Secretary of State for Research; Lluís Rovira, director of the Research Centers of Cataluña, Luis Sanz-Menéndez, researcher at the Institute of Public Policies and Assets of the CSIC, as well as the general secretary of the General Secretary of Universities, José Alberto Díez de Castro and the new deputy general director of University Scientific and Technological Promotion, Irene Bonome Gradaílle, and part of her team.
