CIGUS Network centres to receive additional funding from the Galician autonomous government

Galicia’s autonomous government (Xunta de Galicia) plans to provide a budget reinforcement for funding the scientific centres that make up the Galician University Network of Research Centres (CIGUS). Román Rodríguez, Regional Minister for Culture, Education, Vocational Training and Universities has announced that work has already begun on boosting the regional government’s support for the centres, which are the spearhead for Galicia’s University System.

In the last five years, the Xunta de Galicia has invested almost 30 million euros in the research activity carried out within the CIGUS Network. This Network is made up of the Singular Centre for Research in Biological Chemistry and Molecular Materials (CiQUS), the Singular Centre for Molecular Medicine and Chronic Diseases (CiMUS), the Singular Centre for Research into Intelligent Technologies (CiTIUS) and the Galician Institute of High Energy Physics (IGFAE), at the University of Santiago de Compostela; the Information and Communication Technologies Research Centre (CITIC) at the University of A Coruña; and the Centre for Research in Telecommunication Technologies (atlanTTic), the Centre for Biomedical Research (CINBIO) and the Centre for Marine Research (CIM), at the University of Vigo.
