Javier Parapar and Patricia Martín-Rodilla, researchers at CITIC, a member of the CIGUS Network, an initiative launched by the regional government (Xunta de Galicia) that groups together centres of proven scientific excellence within the Galician university system, are taking part as supervisors in HYBRIDS, a Marie Skłodowska-Curie doctoral training network funded by the European Union (EU) and UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).
HYBRIDS, whose main scientific objective is to provide researchers with the knowledge they need to design strategies and tools to tackle disinformation, based on the in-depth analysis of public discourse, integrates the structured knowledge provided by social and human sciences into natural language processing tools and deep learning algorithms. By developing new hybrid intelligence systems, HYBRIDS will combine machine and human intelligence to overcome the shortcomings of existing artificial intelligence methods.
HYBRIDS includes a total of 11 participating projects, each of which can have a maximum of three supervisors. CITIC researchers Patricia Martín-Rodilla and Javier Parapar López are currently supervising a number of projects.
