CiTIUS investigator receives the Leonardo Research Award
April 8th, 2024

José María Alonso, a full professor at the University of Santiago de Compostela’s School of Engineering (ETSE) and researcher at CiTIUS, a research centre, member of the CIGUS Network, an initiative launched by the regional government (Xunta de Galicia) that groups together centres of accredited scientific excellence, has recently been honoured with the 2024 Leonardo award, accrediting him as one of the top three professors in the Department of Electronics and Computing in terms of scientific production.
The Leonardo awards are given annually at the ETSE in two categories: teaching and scientific production. They coincide with the birth date of the Renaissance polymath Leonardo da Vinci (15 April 1452). In the first category, recognition is granted to the three members of the teaching staff that receive the highest scores in students’ appraisals (one for each of the degrees taught at the School). As for the research category, the prize which has recently been awarded to researcher José María Alonso is based on scientific production data accredited by the University of Santiago (USC). Similarly, three individuals are honoured, one from each department affiliated to the ETSE.
