Inclusive Talents, CITIC’s technological-educational programme, participates in the Annual CSUN Assistive Technology Conference

The Inclusive Talents project, promoted by CITIC, a research centre of the UDC that is part of the CIGUS Network – an initiative promoted by the Xunta de Galicia that brings together the centres of the system that have accredited their scientific excellence – continues its growth and consolidation in the international context after its participation in the Annual CSUN Assistive Technology Conference, the main global forum on technology and accessibility for people with disabilities, held in Anaheim (Los Angeles, California).

The CITIC deputy director, Javier Pereira, and the project manager, Irene Brage, attended the event to present the achievements and potential of Inclusive Talents as a model of innovation that integrates ICT, education and inclusion. This programme not only fosters STEM vocations among young people but also raises awareness of the reality of disability through the development of technological solutions in collaborative teams with people with cerebral palsy.

More about the project

This is a project developed by the CITIC (Centre for Research in Information and Communication Technologies) of the UDC (Universidade da Coruña) and ASPACE Coruña, with the support of the FECYT (Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology) of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities; the Social Council of the UDC; the City Council of Coruña and the Xunta de Galicia through the Regional Ministries of Education, Science, Universities and Vocational Training and Social Policy and Equality.

Its aim is to encourage STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) vocations among young people and to raise awareness of the reality of disability through collaborative work teams to solve technological challenges posed by people with cerebral palsy. In its five years of existence, Inclusive Talents has achieved a significant impact on the educational and technological community. It has developed more than 70 technological solutions to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities, promoting inclusive science as a fundamental pillar. In the 2024 edition, the programme involved 15 schools in Galicia, involving more than 500 students and 50 people with disabilities in the development of innovative technological solutions
