Successful Participation of CICA in the XL Chemistry Biennial

Research staff from CICA, a research centre affiliated with the University of A Coruña and a member of the CIGUS network — an initiative promoted by the Xunta de Galicia that brings together centres within the system recognised for their scientific excellence — are participating in the XL Biennial Meeting of the Royal Spanish Society of Chemistry (RSEQ).
The XL Chemistry Biennial is the leading national event in the field. Held in Bilbao from 30 June to 3 July 2025, this edition brought together over 1,200 professionals, including researchers, lecturers, and industry representatives from 21 countries.
The Interdisciplinary Centre for Chemistry and Biology (CICA) had over 60 of its researchers taking part in the Biennial, through oral presentations, posters, and participation in various thematic symposia. With their contribution, the research staff reinforce their commitment to excellence in research and to enhancing the international visibility of CICA.
The Biennial was structured into 16 symposia distributed across 5 parallel sessions, in which the most cutting-edge research areas in modern chemistry were addressed, including synthetic, organometallic, green, and supramolecular chemistry, materials science, chemical biology, and applications in heritage conservation. In addition, there were 8 plenary lectures, 100 invited talks, nearly 200 oral presentations, 190 flash communications, and 630 posters.
The Biennial stood out not only for its large attendance and scientific quality, but also for its interdisciplinary nature and its capacity to foster dialogue between academia, industry, and the technological and social sectors.
