The CIGUS Network has ten research centers certified by the Xunta de Galicia

The incorporation of the Center for Advanced Scientific Research (CICA) of the University of A Coruña (UDC) and the Center for Cross-disciplinary Research in Environmental Technologies (CRETUS) of the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) raises the number of centers endorsed with the CIGUS seal to ten, validating the quality and impact of their research. The CIGUS Network is an initiative promoted by the Xunta de Galicia, which structures and showcases excellent university research conducted in this region, embodying a strong commitment to economic growth, social welfare, and the future development of Galicia.

These two centers join the eight centers that were already part of the Network: the Center for Information and Communications Technology Research (CITIC) of the UDC; five centers of the USC: the Center for Research in Biological Chemistry and Molecular Materials (CiQUS), the Center for Research in Molecular Medicine and Chronic Diseases (CiMUS), the Singular Research Centre on Intelligent Technologies (CiTIUS) and the Galician Institute of High Energy Physics (IGFAE); and three UVigo centers, the Research Center for Telecommunication Technologies (AtlantTic), the Center for Research in Nanomaterials and Biomedicine (Cinbio) and the Marine Research Center (CIM).

In addition, in this latest call, to which the Xunta de Galicia has allocated €23.6M to enable research centers to carry out their scientific activity with greater stability until 2027, a new category of collaborating centers is added. These centers, which aim to join the CIGUS Network in the coming years, are the Center for Technological Innovation in Construction and Civil Engineering (CITEEC) of the UDC, and the Research Center in Technologies, Energies and Industrial Processes (CINTECX) and the Economics and Business Administration for Society Interuniversity Research Center (ECOBAS), both of the UVigo. These three research centers will also receive regional funding to develop their research projects.
